REDMOND OREGON
Redmond, Oregon is the fastest growing city in the state of Oregon currently. Those who are seeking more sunshine, a dry desert like climate and more value for your money, have made Redmond, Oregon, their home. Some of the attraction, besides more affordable housing compared with Bend Oregon, is simply the weather. While most Central Oregon towns sit under snow pack, Redmond's occasional snow fall disappears as soon as the sun shines. At an elevation of 3,077 feet above sea level, Redmond is 15 miles north of Bend; 144 miles from Portland; 129 miles from Salem, the State Capital of Oregon; and 126 miles from Eugene.
With a population of 21,110 and still growing, Redmond is in the process of re-routing Highway 97 to accommodate all of its new residents. With new home developments and shopping centers popping up at the furthest edges of town, Redmond is in a definite growth spurt. In fact, even the airport is expanding. Redmond is home to Roberts Air Field which is the largest regional airport in Central Oregon. Direct flights to Los Angeles, San Francisco, Denver, Salt Lake City, Portland and Seattle make it really easy to get into, or out of Central Oregon in a jiffy. Daily service is provided by Delta, Alaska Air (Horizon Air), and United Express.
The Deschutes County Fair and Expo Center is also in Redmond. Every year, this venue plays host to a number of national concert performances, Expos, Rodeos and the ever popular Deschutes County Fair every July.
